Leeks.. Love them. But they are DIRTY!!! They are grown in very sandy soil so there will be sand in them. Here is the easiest way to clean them.
Cut the bottoms...
Cut the green tops (You can use the tops in stock... otherwise they are compost)
Slice down the middle...
Put in a bowl, face down, in cold water... for about 5 minutes.
Take them out and you can see all the sand at the bottom of your bowl...
Shake the water off ...
Go at it.... Go Cook Some LEEKS!!!
