Wine Caramelized Red Onions



I made some awesome steaks for the kids tonight... 
what better way to finish off my favorite bottle of wine... 


1 Whole Large Red Onion, Sliced
1 Shallot, Sliced
1 Teaspoon Kosher Salt
1 Teaspoon Fresh Ground Pepper
3 Tablespoons Oil
1/4 Cup of your favorite Red Wine (Sweet works best!!!)


Slice your onions and shallots...

Heat the oil and add the onions and shallots.... lower the heat the med...

Add the salt and pepper and cook for about 15 minutes... 

Measure the wine... 

This is what your onions should look like after cooking for 15 minutes... 

Add the wine...  and cook for another 10-15 minutes.... 

This is what they should look like. 


Top your favorite steak or put in a sandwich...
